Vintage Seiko Actus Square Case - JDM Watch

As a closing aquisition in 2011, i choose to buy dressy watch from Seiko brand, that used famous movement calibre 6306-5000 hi-beat (6 bps = 21600 bph), with day/date (english & kanji) feature and hacking movement system (SS - Second Stop), used 21 jewels inside... keep accurate even 34 years old already (ca. April 1977).

So with case tv shape style and white textured dial made her so beautiful, bright and clean...especially in mint condition, please refer to the picture carefully.

Now, my homework is trying to find original Seiko Actus bracelet for her... wish me luck guys...

My latest Seiko collection is Seiko 7005-8052, i got it from my good friend...

with specs... :

Non-screw down crown (the crown on the 62MAS also didn't screw down)
Water resistant to 70m depth rate
Same handset as 62MAS - in very good condition, no apparent breaking down of lume!
Raised indices filled with lume (still glows for a few moments!), similar to 62MAS
Blue face in very good condition
Black rotating bezel (bidirectional, no clicks- as designed) (62MAS was also bidirectional and no clicks)
Acrylic domed crystal
Quickset date
39mm diameter, lug to lug 44mm (hidden crown)

I love the blue dial, bold raised markers and hands

with blue navy nylon strap....matching right !!!

Col. William R. Pogue a.k.a Col. Bill Pogue the owner of Seiko 6139-6002 that wore on the moon in the end of 1973 till early 1974 during Skylab 4 missions and he continued wear the Seiko watch daily until he retired it in 2003 due to the wear and tear of twenty years. Is that true ????

In generally my vintage wirstwatch collection made in Japan or Swiss, and now i have vintage wristwatch that made in Germany....KIENZLE SELECTA "WaterProof" (old statement, cause after ca.70s till now it use statement "WaterResist") ca. around 50s-60s in all stainless steel antimagnetic case and folksy model without date window on the dial. I thought, the handwound movement was produced inhouse by Kienzle Germany

With bold and raised square marker, bold & sturdy lugs, and folksy model it makes me fallin' in love with her at the first sight in ebay that i bought from Bulgarian Seller and sent from Bulgaria of course. In fact do not easy to find vintage Kienzle wirstwatch with all stainless steel antimagnetic case, usually the case was made from base metal material and only caseback made from stainless steel.

Today is My Birthday..... and i got my present from myself a very rare Seiko DuoTime

cal. 5619A ca.72 (my lucky number) with 23 jewels, 6 bps, a.k.a 56DMC.

Measurement :

- 42mm top lug to bottom lug ,

- 35mm side to side ( without crown ) and

- 10mm thickness

These were only made for a short while and i have seen them called " The forgotten Seiko "

"The 5619 shares the same base movement as 56 King Seiko Chronometer and 56 Grand Seiko. The GMT hand can be adjusted independently, as those on the Rolex GMT Master II. The movement is adjusted to Seiko “C” Accuracy Grade (-15/+25), and was considered technically superior to most contemporary high-grade movement from Seiko. Single Button Chronostop Movement

Right now i only have 3 kinds of single button chronostop movement, 2 from Omega brand's with cal. 865(w/o date) and cal. 920(w/ date), and the other from Seiko brand's cal. 5719A..

If we compare the movement among them, clearly seen better Seiko movement than Omega, but i still curious why Omega brand's has over the price than Seiko brand's...??? only because "SWISS MADE" eventhough "MADE IN JAPAN" damn good too.... so ridiculous if that the reason.

Talk about accuracy... Seiko doesn't inferior to Omega. What do you think about that ???? please be ponder.....

The First Seiko Chronograph W/ Single Button Ca.60s

Today i received my favorite Seiko chronograph single button at 2 o'clock w/o chrono sub register usually it called chronostop. with untouched dial and case, and dial markers or hands not relumed too...

The dial looks has been aging already, impact of well used...cause it's pre-owned vintage wristwatch that i like with 38mm dia. and w/o day/date features. So simple but rare...all chrono function works as it should and keep time.

Text on the dial below the six's marker not as usually wristwatch of Seiko as we're known.

If Seiko wristwatch used caliber 5719A then on the dial below six's marker will typed 8 digits, first 4 digits, symbol of calibre and second 4 digits, symbol of variant or model of the wristwatch, but not like mine below the six's marker typed "Made In Japan" and "45898 TO" (pie pan dial variant) this variant is without day/date features. at the caseback we will see the torch of olympiad at 1964 in Tokyo eventhough it's vague.

So curious.... what's different between Omega cal. 321, and Valjoux cal. 72x, why Rolex have choosen Valjoux 72 for chronograph variant.....??? might be val.72 was the best in that era.... ????

After wait for 4 years... finally my holy grail become my collection too... so hard to find any ref. for Titoni Race King (TRK) i do not know why ? because limited edition or what ? especially for calibre valjoux 72 (my lucky number)... ;o)

Believe it or not.. this kind of Titoni must have for all Titoni or Wirstwatch Collector i thought so....

2. then buy it if you can find nice condition one
3. after that open internet connection at your home with wear your new
Seiko World Time cal. 6217-7000
4. the last but not least, you can imagine where ever you want in all around the world

My aquisition in early 2011 is Seiko cal.6138 that most famous among them, they are Bullhead & U.F.O model, with affordable price we could get good quality chronograph movement eventhough Japan movement, it can fullfil power reserved from spinning the crown and this movement use coloum wheel like good quality Swiss chronograph movement.

Finally i broke my own promise, when i looked this item i'm falling in love... so vintage Fortis MarineMaster became my last acquisition for 2010...

Why......?

My reasons are..

1. Very mint condition... so hard to find condition like this
2. First version Marine Master has ever launched by Fortis brand ca.70s
3. High domed crystal (mica) for deep sea diver
4. Super compressor wirstwatch with aqua lung symbol
5. Big size wirstwatch 42mm diameter... and hack movement
6. Depth gauge on dial very color full, really eye catching
7. Big hands, with dot second hand
8. Calender window at 6 o'clock position
9. Bi-directional depth indicator rotate inner bezel
10. Very sought version after Fortis launched new version in 1990s

"Sometimes rarity is only in the eyes of the beholder, but these Bell-Matics are some of the hardest to find. The 4005 movement with date-only is rarely if ever seen at auction or on watch sales forums."

My opinion :

Especially for proper condition like my Bellmatic 4005, not easy to find.

All parts genuine with best condition of black genuine dial.. cal.4005 ca.60s only produced with 27 jewels variant and in short time. 1968-1969 2 years only and then be continued by the successor cal.4006 movement with day/date and 3 variants 17j/21j/27j, cal.4005 not many population off course.

Year end 2010 verge door.. so i decided this rarest Seiko Bellmatic cal.4005-7000 as my closing year 2010 acquisition for my wristwatch collection. I'm very happy, i hope you too.

Mother Board Bellmatic Movements

Not easy but not too hard to find Seiko Bellmatic 27 jewels(j), cause bellmatic with calendar have 3 variants cal.4006 with 17j, 21j or 27j and if we compare among of them obviously we can look how very different they are.

So i decided to own seiko bellmatic variant with 27j in line of my wristwatch constellation, cause i thought this variant ought to have by any wristwatch collector...why ? this kind of movement mechanical alarm, manual or automatic they're very complicated movement has ever been made in their decade and sturdy movement of course.

If we wanna buy modern wirstwatch with mechanical alarm movement today... very very expensive one.

I do not really like Lord Matic variant of Seiko before, cause i think more beautiful and collectible item is Seiko Lord Marvel than Lord Matic a.k.a Seiko LM, but lately since i looked this variant i do shift my paradigm about that...it's remember me to the King Seiko, therefore i called it poor man "King Seiko"...(PMKS)

Lord Matic this variant is an exception for me... it's really beautiful (subject manner) and i fallin' in love at the first sight...

My reasons are :
1. lord matic w/o LM symbol up the 6 marker
2. day/date not all at marker 3, but split day/date, date at 3 and day at 6 with full day name, black color font type for weekday, blue for saturday and red for sunday
3. monocoque stainless steel case w/ dia 36mm exl. crown, with old fashion typed at back case "waterproof"
4. sturdy calibre 5606 with 25 jewels ca. 1968s, made it different with other Lord Matic's
5. dauphine steel hands with black striped in line
6. hacked system with 8 bps hi-beat
7. the last but not least and the most important thing is all parts genuine

The 30T2, ancestor of more than a dozen movement calibre 26x and 28x, produced in (almost certainly) millions, right up to the advent of quartz-controlled watches. In 1939 a center-seconds variation was added, the 30T2SC, and in the early 40s Omega began to produce a small series of chronometer watches with highly refined versions of this workhorse movement.

it use inhouse miyota movement 21 jewels - low beat, steel arrow second hand, red arrow alarm hand, uni-direction bezel, equipped with date and mica crystal with date lub, stainless steel material, diameter 40mm so gallant to use...fully original parts with mint condition

this is my second Citizen collection ...why ? just because so rare and gallant...

lately i missed my Seiko Brown Bullhead SpeedTimer until i found it again, i rethink it's a must have for any wirstwatch collector cause bullhead shape is unusual shape of wristwatch, in 70s era many brands of watchmaker launched bullhead shape like Omega, Breitling, Citizen and the others but their price is very high now, except for Citizen Bullhead cause it has small size diameter

so.... not wrong if we have one of them (bullhead shape wirstwatch) even only Seiko's brand, cause the price still affordable for all of us now but maybe 5 - 10 years in the future the price is not simple anymore... cause many new players will show up but the population of Seiko Bullhead do not increase anymore

This is it, what i'm looking for long time....

King Seiko Cal.45 legendary movement was made and designed by Daini Seikosha but use Suwa logo at dial and gold emblem, i do not know why ?...has chronometer grade movement with 25jewels and 10 bps

all parts are genuine, strap and buckle wear off on purposed.

very simple without date or day/date, so comfort to use, cause not need day/date setting at all, when i want to use it. need setting hour and minute hands only

many KS collector said this kind (KS superior chronometer) is less population than else in KS family and mandatory to own by KS collector, as i knew KS superior chronometer only use 2 kinds of handwound movement calibre, they are cal.4500 for without day/date and cal.4502 with date...VERY COLLECTIBLE ITEM

hard enough to find like this where's the movement first kind of automatic movement has ever made by Omega, now we known as bumper movement, why it called like that cause rotor can not spin 360 degrees, only bump and then back to other side vice versa to fulfil power reserved

if we look backcase without O-ring gasket it means first generation of calibre 351 so on the dial has no collection series name like speedmaster, seamaster, geneve etc., on the dial only has Omega symbol and then under it has typed OMEGA, and then AUTOMATIC, under six gold marker has tiny typed "swiss made", we can read all typed with clearly

Saturday Morning Rolex Sub ND 5513 has shooting session by it self for the first time since acquisition...

Why did i choose Sub ND 5513 ? the answer : cause the price is affordable for me, use cal.1520 movement non chronometer grade but the accuracy very well, -/+ 15 second per day tolerance

besides all of the reason, first time i looked the 5513, i really love it at all

my 5513 ca. 4th quartal in 1968 edition in one million series number at case

but the dial/hands/insert bezel more younger edition than the case, cause it has serviced at RSC for 5 times and last serviced at May 1997 so because of that i thought the dial/hands/insert bezel has ever replaced with new one and for me, make me more love it at all

the case i thought has ever polished at RSC cause likely factory brushed, the big crown still old one and lock firmly 2.5 times screw with 3 dots, it's mean triple lock system for Rolex Diver Feature

nice lugs, with diameter 40mm without crown with bezel can rotates bi-directional, most of all i love from the 5513 is domed mika crystal and sharp crown guard

This year is the 4th year i sunk in horologie hobby, this year i would make become a momentum year in my horologie hobby, so..to celebrate this year i've been already to choose VINTAGE ROLEX SUBMARINER 5513 Cal.1520 no date, 26 jewels unadjusted OYSTER PERPETUAL, Circa 4th quartal in 1968 edition, with acrylic domed plastic crystal as a Landmark in my horologie collection, all parts truly genuine but without oyster bracelet, head only.

So simple between sporty and military look with mercy hands, triple lock features, nice looking..

The reference 5513 was introduced in 1962, and replaced the reference 5508. The 5513 was produced from 1962 through June or so of 1990, which must be one of the longest continually produced references in Rolex history. The reference 5513 used calibers 1520 and 1530. Curiously, the caliber 1530 was used in both the 5513 and 5512 calibers for a time. The 5512 carried the C.O.S.C. certification while the 5513 using the same caliber did not have the chronometer certification. Today, the 5513 is one of the most collectable Submariners, and while it is still accessably priced, market prices have almost doubled from 2003 to 2005.

June 1968 edition almost 42 years old but still running great and keeping good time

seiko diver cal.6105A model 8000, is earlier model than 811x with symmetrical cushion case, 17J and run at 21,600 bph. it has a quickset date-only calendar mechanism, with 41mm diameter can be manually wound by shakin'

One really nice feature that you get with the 8000 is a signed "SEIKO" crown. A real rarity with Seiko both vintage or contemporary.

So hard to find King Seiko Diashock 1st generation model..with mint condition ofcourse !, more than that if it use first calibre 44, 25 jewels, so became the rarest one with gold filled 14k case so beautiful, gold marker, white silver dial and gold dauphine hands made my new collection of King Seiko too hard to bore

March 1964 edition, with genuine part, trully i fallen in love at the first sight with this King Seiko, when i looked caseback wow... mint gold emblem 1st edition for King Seiko make me speechless...

This is my new Seiko 5 Chronograph SpeedTimer (red font color) Sports (bright blue font color) Water70Proof, calibre 6139 variant 6010, December 1969 Edition, with nice condition over all, all lumes still bright in the dark, all original part, black dial with nice black chapter, unpolish case, we still can look factory brushed on the case with my favorite movement calibre and 21 jewels, the chronos reset as they should to 12 amazing...

with good accuracy less then 10 seconds per day, only 3-5 second -/+ per day, with 41 years old, i think so nice and deserve to be my favorite collection

This is it, after wait almost 2 weeks finally become my next collection of seiko's, it is a seiko chronograph one register sub dial with black dial and arabic number as marker, military style so minty, with black plate day/date in English/Kanji, so minty black inner bezel of tachymeter, February 1970 edition, diameter 41mm

esspecially for movement the rarest one caliber 6139A with 21 Jewels, ussually only 17 jewels for this kind of movement

if we look on dial every tags write down, named it like logo five (5), SpeedTimer, Sports, Water70mProof so if we combine all of them became mega rare "Seiko SpeedTimer 5 Sports Water70mProof" it's so hard to find in mint condition

all components are original, and hands for chronograph reset to 12 as they should

My Observations of rarity of various 60s/70s Auto Chrono (long text)

Perhaps this should go in the FAQ section, but I'll leave the decision up to the moderator...

As a collector primarily of the Seiko & Citizen 60s-70s "1st" & "2nd" generation automatic chronos, I got to wondering about the relative rarity of each calibre and of the various case & dial styles. Since Seiko won't give out production data (not sure of Citizen), I have to rely on what I see offered for sale various places or up for display on various Japanese watch collection websites. I then infer the relative rarity of each model based upon how often I've seen it over the years I've looked. The logical 'flaw' in this method could be that certain models are around in peoples hands BUT just not put up for sale or 'show' on the net.

From my own informal research in this way, and assuming that frequency of occurence on the net is a good approximation for relative rarity, I come to the following conclusions:

SEIKO:
Calibres available: 6139A (21 jewel), 6139B (17j), 6138A (21j), 6138B (23j), 7015A, 7016, 7017A, and 7018A

1. The rarest models in my experience are ANY one with a calibre 7018, 7015, 23 jewel 6138B, or 21 jewel 6139A. I include in this category anything in a "Timesonar" style case (calibres 7015 & 7018 with expo back & possibly a see-thru dial) AND anything with both a sliderule under the glass & external tach bezel (models 7015-7010 & 7017-6050). Also, in this category are any 6138 or 6139 with ALL of the following on the dial "Seiko 5 SPORTS Speedtimer" and a 70Meter Waterproof indicator. Another one in this category is a 6138-0020 (that has the case style known as 'helmet', 'flightmaster' or 'volcano'). In each case I've only seen 1 or 2 of each on the net (either in a collection or for sale) over the last 2 years.

2. Next rarest are 6138-7000 Sliderule, any 7016, and any 7017 (other than the 7017-6050). Also in this category, ANY 6138 or 6139 with "Seiko 5 SPORTS Speedtimer", but NO waterproof indicator on dial. Examples are 6139-8050 or 6139-8002. Also in this category is 6139-7080 (with octagonal case). In these cases I've seen only a maximum of a dozen of each pictured in 2 years. To put this category in perspective, the items listed here are seen about as often as the 1960s era manual "Crown Chrono" using Calibres 5717A, 5718A, or 5719A.

3. Next rarest are 6138 & 6139 models with only "Seiko Speedtimer" on dial and also the 6138-004x Bullhead with Black dial & Blue subregisters. Generally a max of about 2 dozen seen in 2 years.

4. More commonly are 6138 Brown/Gold dial Bullheads with just "Seiko Chronograph Automatic" on dial and also 6138 models like the 6138-3000, 6138-8020, and the BigSmall Eye (-0011 & -0017). I'd also fit into this category any chrono that has the waterproof indicator on the dial in addition to the standard "Seiko Chronograph Automatic" marking.

5. Beyond that I regularly see a good number of 6139s like the 6139-8020, 6139-7100 ('volcano' or 'helmet' case), & various 6139-60xx styles (where 'x' represents any digit). The 6139-60xx models with the red & blue external tach bezel actually appear quite common (although generally are quite in demand). In this category, they generally just say "Seiko Chronograph Automatic" on the dial.

CITIZEN

Calibres available to my knowlege are the 5700 (actually I think this is manual), the 8100A (equivalent to a Seiko 7018A), and the 8110A (like a Seiko 6138B. The 8100A & 8110A both have 23 jewels & Flyback complication. I'm not sure if 5700 has Flyback, but it has 21 jewels.

1. Rarest appear to be 5700 RecordMaster, particularly the "Rally Custom" having a black external tach bezel AND a sliderule under the glass. Also, any 8100A. Outside of Japanese collection websites, I've never seen any 8100 or 5700 "Rally Custom" offered for sale in over a year on the web. In fact I only once saw a 5700 (needing mechanical work) offered during that time.

2. Next rarest are various non-bullhead style 8110A chronos. There are some that have an external enamel tach bezel & have the general appearance of a boys sized Omega Speedmaster. Others have octagonal cases & hexagonal subregisters, others are more square cased with fancy shaped chrome bezels. I generally see a handful of each for sale in a year.

3. Believe it or not, the 8110A bullhead styles actually seem to show up most often for sale, though the hexagonal bullhead case style is rarer than the 'rounded' bullhead. Another more common one has a somehat 'volcano' shaped case and an inner rotating bezel (marked in 60 increments) with a separate crown @ 10 o'clock to turn it.

FINALLY: since these conclusions are based just on a few years of personal observation of "what shows up" on the net, it is subject to error. But, in any case, I think it gives a good idea of how hard it would be for a collector to actually get his hands on a particular model of vintage chrono.

NOW - have YOU come to the same conclusions I have, or have you gotten a different picture of the situation from your hunt for these items for you collection?

Finally after wait for 2 weeks more or less, my dream watch came true today in the morning about 10 o'clock delivery service from pos indonesia came to my office.

My GS (first GS with sapphire glass) has caliber 4522 model 7010, April 1970 editon, with calendar function, handwound movement, white satin dial, genuine gs crown and furnished with genuine vintage raised gs buckle and new black genuine seiko strap croco style, gold GS 18K emblem with mint condition and unpolish case

one of many best movement has ever made by Daini Seikosha in 1968 with 25 jewels, the last series of handwound movement used in GS more stable and reliable than caliber 44 and GS standard approved, high beat with 10 bps, running strong and keeping excellent time, quick set date

i think it's so simple, minimalis and formal style, "simply is the best", everlasting classic model, too hard to boring and forever young

The opinions from lots of watch collectors and fans of GS, they would like to choose manual wind watch rather than automatic one, no calendar rather than has calendar.

For the vintage GS watches, the complexity of maintenance is what we care about. So "easy is the best"!. What is your opinion ?

King Seiko Cal.56 Kanji Day/Date ca.71s

After searched in "Dunia Maya" (read as : Cyber World) i found what did i want, that's a King Seiko Kanji Day/Date with clean white sunburst dial, so formally style. calibre 5626-7110 open thru the glass (monoblock case, 36mm diameter w/o crown) may 1971 edition, with 8 bps, 25 jewels hi-beat movement, one of the best calibres have ever made by Daini-Seikosha, minty solid gold 18k emblem of KS, marker and hands with signed crown, unpolish case, my king seiko equipt by original black leather strap croco style of seiko and genuine vintage ks buckle... made it all so charming and beautiful one....right !!

After accuracy check in seiko officially service center in Melawai, by head of mechanic Mr. Hari use mechine for accuracy check, we known it accuracy is -10 second / day, it's mean so good for wirstwatch aged 38 years old almost 39 years old next year, only less than a month

King Seiko Special Chronometer Cal.52xx Ca.70s

I strongly believe that 52 (calibre 5245 date and 5246 day & date) King Seiko special chronometer quality exceeded Grand Seiko's.

The brand name "King Seiko" was the symbol of Daini-Seikosha.

In the '70 era, the quartz watch sale became very rampant. At that stage,
Daini Seikosha thought that the 52 caliber was the last chance to produce for mechanical watches, and thus, they felt that they should produce a superior caliber to remain part of the watch history.

- Durability
- Thin caliber
- The function with date change quickly at 24:00
- Unique faceted crystal
- Unique body shape (case) at 12 and 6, we can look shape like fujiyama

(Honestly speaking the water proof ability was a weakness. Almost people
take a bath and swim with the watch. So it is hard to find no stain dial on the 52 King Seiko special)

The 8 bps (equal 28.800 bph) movement was more durable than the 10 bps (equal 36.000 bph) movement. This could be due to that 10 bps 45 caliber needed more frequent maintanence..

Thus, Daini-Seikosha produced the new caliber based on the experience. 52 caliber!!

Based on selection of only high precision parts, 52 King Seiko Special chronometer was born!!

This caliber design was so great that it was modified to become the famous 4S caliber after about 20 years.

Because of this superb caliber, Daini-Seikosha named it "Special" (as to more superior) than normal King Seiko .

Lastly, I think 52 King Seiko quality exceeded those of the Grand Seiko's.

A vintage 1970's / 80's Russian military wristwatch made by the Vostok (Boctok) watch factory. Vostok means East in Russian.
